It’s been busy and I needed a beer, so we went to the Slocan

Above photo shows a plate of the cheesy fries and my Fat Tug IPA. They didn’t have any stouts at the time, most places don’t during summer I guess, and I settled for this instead. The fries were not the crispiest, but the abundance of cheese, sourcream, and small bits of bacon made up for it. I am interested in seeing what else they have, but maybe I’ll come back in the winter when they have stouts.

This weekend is certainly a slow one, leaving me too much time to think about the future. Trying to keep the glass half full can be tough sometimes, but talking with the right people will get the glass filled up again.

I am feeling that outdoors hike/travel itch! The air is clearing from the Lower Mainland, so maybe its time to hit the trails. I want that feeling of “now you’re here, now you’re awake”, as my yoga instructor today was saying.
Visited Aperture Coffee Bar for their beautiful affogatos:

I had the ginger, matcha, and the lemon (top to bottom). I knew I wanted the matcha flavor going into the shop, and lemon was recommended by the dude at the bar. Ginger affogato just sounded wack, and it was actually not too weird. I tend to like ginger and sugar together, so I enjoyed it. The lemon was not my favourite, but I could see how others might like the tanginess of the syrup. The ginger was also just a syrup. I think the matcha could’ve been stirred up a bit better as I had chunks of it melt in my mouth.

I wouldn't get the same flavours again, but I do want to try all of them. I think they have seasonal flavours too... Overall, a pretty good pre-game for dinner.

Little things are stressing me out today. Don’t let the little things in life creep into the cracks and split up the foundation.
