Lyrics:

When I met you in the summer
To my heartbeat's sound
We fell in love
As the leaves turned brown
And we could be together baby
As long as skies are blue
You act so innocent now
But you lied so soon

When I met you in the summer

[Instrumental]

When I met you in the summer
To my heartbeat's sound
We fell in love
As the leaves turned brown
And we could be together baby
As long as skies are blue
You act so innocent now
But you lied so soon

When I met you in the summer

[Instrumental]

When I met you in the summer
Summer…

Are we going to hear this all summer 2014? I can see this getting annoying, but it’s good for studying now.

FSCT8010 almost over! Writing the final paper now, and doing the exam tomorrow… This course was majorly disorganized, but going on fieldtrips to Pacific Institution and the Belkin House was a different experience.

I had my last class of FSCT7005 yesterday.  What a relief to be done!  My recommendations for this course:

-try not to be the investigator
-make notes of everything
-memorize your willsay
-be extremely formal in court, keep everyone on a last-name basis
-be sure of everything you say

We went to the Winking Judge Pub afterwards, and had a few beers while we vented about each of our own experiences.  All the ladies thought M was irresistibly hot.  Wish we invited him to join us at the pub, but he probably would have declined politely anyways.

This weekend should be fun though.
Basically a review week of McNeil and Stinchcombe and disclosure.  After the excitement of being at the scene of the crime last week, this week was definitely a snoozer.  No crazy witnesses to interview this time.

Apparently, we are the only group that has everything we need to do our Report To Crown Council (RTCC).  I love being in a group with all girls.  This group is especially awesome because everyone is so on the ball.  It sorta makes me feel incompetent, like I'm not contributing enough, but hey, they've got everything under control already, so I don't even need to be there. Go team go!

Trying to type up the notes from the FSCT7005 interviews we did last Wednesday... The investigation was actually a lot of fun to do, and it was awesome to actually do some real sleuthing.

But it's so hard to concentrate... I've used up all my lives on Candy Crush, scrolled through Pinterest every 10 minutes or so, booked a car for my boss, went to the washroom, ate some cherry tomatoes... and it's already 1PM.  Great, the day is just flying by...

This weekend was pretty strange.  Friday was probably the WORST DAY OF THE YEAR (WDOTY), and a complete pile of fail.  Saturday could have been better if things worked out, but our timing is so off.  However, nothing in life worth having comes easy, and anything worth having is worth working hard for... It'll just make the end result even sweeter when I get it.
The FSCT7002 final was last Wednesday.  It was a relief to get it over with, although I'm sure I must have barely passed it.  I absolutely hated the course with a passion.  Tips for this course:
  • Record all lectures (Brent talks way too fast, and Geri-Lynn talks way too quietly.  BJ Brown puts up all his lecture slides, which is really very much appreciated)
  • Have a lot of caffeine to stay awake through the dry course material
  • Sit near the front to stay awake
  • Come to class on time, they always start right away
  • Don't ask situational "what if" questions; the answer is it depends, and you're wasting everyone's time.
Looking forward to FSCT7005! It starts on Apr. 24, so I have 3 weeks free.  Let's hang out.

P.S. Sunday was awesome.:)

How many people actually apply for the BCIT Forensics program each year?

Well, I was one of the people who attended the Forensics Open House to pick up an application package after listening to them chit chat about all their programs.  I then took about a month to finish and submit an application in June/July for the Forensics Science ASc program, to start class in January.  The application consisted of a criminal record check and a few transcripts, which cost a total of ~$50, in addition to an application fee of about $60.  I mailed in the application through Canada Post, which was just ending their strike at the time.  All that was left for me to do was wait for them to contact me about my application!

So I waited… and waited and waited.   It was supposed to take about 6-8 weeks for them to process my application, so I gave them some time.  August… September… October came, and it was time for the next recruitment session.  It was time to call them and check up on my application.

The Woman @ BCIT was not able to find any record of my application, and she sent me an application through email instead to speed up the process.  I got to work filling out the new application and collecting all the bits and pieces that were required (another criminal record check, transcripts).  What else could I have done?

A month later, and everything was ready to be sent in again.  The day I was going to send it out, I get an email from the Woman @ BCIT telling me that they had received my application package, and that they would review it before sending it in to the Registrar’s office. I thought there must be some sort of mistake!

I called in again to make sure that they really had my application form and indeed they did.  It turns out that Woman @ BCIT had given my forms to Man @ BCIT to check that they were done properly.  They both forgot that they had my forms, and they were misplaced somewhere at BCIT.  Recently, Man @ BCIT found the forms, reviewed them, and returned them to Woman @ BCIT, who finally emailed me confirmation that they had my application.  At least they let me know before I sent in the 2nd application...

Woman @ BCIT emailed me again last night to inform me that they were submitting my application to the Registrar’s office.  Let’s see what happens next…

Goldfishes on the 99BLine!

someone i know was living with 2 other people who had H1N1, but luckily, the last time i interacted with that person was about 2 weeks ago.  there’s still a (very low) possibility of me coming down with something… right, right?

Almost the end of term! Only these things left to do:
-PSYC365 Critique #2 on Digital Chameleons
-MICB300 Group Evaluations
-MICB322 Lab 10 Report on Staphylococcus
-Finals for BIOC302, MICB300, MICB322, and MICB302

MICB302 exam is tomorrow. The answer for everything seems to be add some antibodies with fluorochromes and fluoresce it for:
a. sorting (using FACS)
b. identifying (more FACS)
c. locating (could use microscopy… but why not just use FACS too?)

FACS. FAX. FACKS. fuck… so screewed.

patterned white tights (leggings? i can’t tell the difference between tights and leggings…).  i conveniently had my camera in my bag and it looked too “cool” to not take a picture of. what lovely fashion we have @ UBC.

EMB plates streaked with two unknown samples. Left is V’s plate, and it should have E. coli, because of the metallic green colour. Mine… is a blob of goo on a plate, which should be E. aerogenes… hopefully it is…

Have I mentioned that I can’t Gram stain?! I looked at my slide after doing the whole tedious Gram stain procedure using a compound microscope, didn’t see anything, asked the lab instructors to look at it… and they gave up too. WHY?!!??!

For those who are taking BIOC302… (some of the) Problem Set 2 Answers! see full album below. credits to V for taking the pictures.

i hate BIOL201.

I had a strange dream last night. J and P were in it, and a random strange female, who i have never met IRL, and was apparently one of J’s best friends as well as my friend in the dream. Friend of J looked like a girl that I saw at school.

Friend of J was with me at a Rogers cellphone store to do something cellphone related, and we were about to leave, when J and P enter. They say hi, but since I really do not know J that well, I did what I usually do. J and P talk to the Rogers sales people, and Friend of J and I leave the store.

Outside the store, Friend of J asks me,

“Hey, what happened between you guys? Why didn’t you say hi? I thought you liked him.”

Surprised, I raise one of my eyebrows and say,

“Nothing.”

Then, Friend of J angrily exclaims,

"BUT HE LIKES YOU!”

I wonder if it’s possible to blush during sleep. If possible, then someone watching me sleep last night might’ve observed that I was bright red.
