After breakfast, we immediately started looking for a place to have lunch. Our trusty smartphones told us that a 30 minute walk would bring us to the World of Beer, which sounded pretty amazing to beer enthusiasts like H and I. From Lineage Coffee, we walked to Lake Eola, went around the park, which was full of people and swans, explored the busy farmer’s market, and arrived at the World of Beer:

Walking into this bar took some courage. The patio looked more welcoming, but it was already full. The servers were all very friendly, but looked like they were way too busy. Nobody greeted us, and we sat ourselves down at a table that was covered in dirty dishes. The place was really busy and really dirty – it smelled like dirty old beer and greasy food. Typical of a bar, I guess.

Eventually, we ordered our tater tots and margherita flat bread, as well as a flight of local beers for me and a pint of some IPA for H. The local drafts did not impress me, and some of them downright tasted NASTY. Maybe it’s the chlorinated water in Florida, but I probably will not come back.

I would go back to Florida to see another rocket or shuttle launch, and for the sunshine. It’s pouring again in Vancouver, as I write this… What else does one do in Florida besides enjoy the sunshine?

So every week, there are some pretty cool food trucks. There was the week where Urban Wood Fired Pizza brought their own pizza ovens, Disco Cheetah and their Mexasian fusion food, and this week… I tried out Chou Chou Crepes:

Here’s the menu, the real French woman who runs the show was already running out of certain choices:

I had the Mr. Fred (ham, egg, cheese):

I was STARVING, so I apologize for the bad photos as I was focused on chewing this gooey on the inside, crispy on the outside, crepe made in heaven. The photo on the right was taken in an attempt to show the gooey mozzarella that oozed out of the crepe and ended up at the bottom of the bag.

Perhaps it was good because I worked up an appetite from all the manual labor at the market. Another reason could be that it was just amazeballs and this French woman knows her stuff. That cheese though...

Hard day’s work, I deserved a good meal.

Picked up some swag along the way too:

PS: I downloaded Pokemon Go this Sunday. Just saying.

Me - "Why don't you keep your lunch in the fridge?"
V - "There are lunch thieves around."
Me - "You'll get food poisoning if you leave your food out."
V - "I never get food poisoning."
E - "NO no, remember that day in December last year when we went to Banana Leaf, and you told us after that your stomach was hurting, although L was fine, even though you were sharing food with her? You're lying now, don't lie."

He couldn't argue against that, and I was just happy to see him get shut down. Hahahaha

1. Lunch:

Me: Have you ever spilled your sample?
S: Yeah, of course.
Me: What did you do?
S: Pour it again!  It was only 1 or 2 samples.  I told the other people in my lab that if I spilled the whole
rack which has about 100 samples, I would just give up and quit.

2. Centrifuge

M: Hey, Don’t take out the sample and then pour it back in like that.
Me: Why not?
M:  Homogeneity.  You have to swirl the sample again and then remove, because it’s like you’re splitting the sample and resampling again.  It won’t be representative if you do that.

Later on, waiting for samples…
M: What’s the purpose of mixing up the sample?
Me: Umm… Is it homogeneity… And representativeness of the sample?
M: Yes.  Why do we only use samples that are this size?
Me: Not sure.
M: Homogeneity.  And representativeness of the sample.

I laughed for a full 60 seconds after this. Oh dear, I’m so immature.  I told everybody that I graduated already, and M said that he was surprised because I seem so immature.  Then, S thought I was 2 years younger than what I actually am, because I seem immature.  I hope I never grow up though.
