Things i like about work

1. Coffee, like from Pallet. They really do have one of the best lattes in town. Apparently, they don't use beans that are roasted past 3 weeks. Standards.

2. Meeting people

3. Hunting down new leads and winning them over. There's always a new opportunity waiting and it brings a sense of optimism.

4. Setting my own schedule

5. Working from home, which is way more efficient than office life everyday

Things i don't like about work: 

1. Feeling manipulative when winning new leads

2. Feeling conflicted because although I feel manipulative, I also think the product is useful and I make money this way 

3. The repetitive work after convincing them and having to set them up

4. Constantly chasing targets

5. Working from home, because my child can find me and is rather distracting

Today was pretty crazy though, rushing from one side of the city to the next and then calls back to back. Would be easier without a constant voice at the back of my mind that my child needs me, as well as my other child kicking me in the ribs to remind me that I haven't had lunch yet. Ah, the good old days of surviving on coffees, while destressing in the evening with a bottle of wine.

Visited this new location of Pallet with M. I’ve already lost the sunglasses in this photo…

Despite having beautiful latte art, this spot was a tad disappointing. It didn’t have the same cozy feeling as the Pallet on Kingsway. Come to think of it, I’ve only ever had coffee at the other location, and I’ve never made a point of trying the food… Anyways, the brisket sandwich was dry: 

I might not come back here, just because I’m never in the Kitsilano area of Vancouver.



I think that my appetite was also quite challenged that day because of stress. Starting to really feel the pressure of living in one of the most expensive cities in the world! Mortgage rates keep going up lately, and mine is just about to kick in.

I think part of it is caused by the chaotic state of my room too – I haven’t bothered reorganizing things since last year, because I should be moving soon, and because everytime I try, everything gets messy again in a day. I should re-read The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo…

H and I sat at Pallet Coffee, while waiting to meet up with his parents for dim sum at Sun Bo Kong on Saturday. We were at the café from around 1030AM to 1130AM, and the line up just would not stop. Luckily we came in early enough to grab 2 comfy chairs by the back and watched the place bustling and hustling. All the tables filled up, and it was not surprising either, because their coffee was on point. I had the macchiato, and learned that the real traditional way to do it is with 2 shots, and just a dollop of foam on one of the shots. Sparkling water on the side to go with it, because the coffee was stronger than Gregor Clegane. Chocolate croissant was good and flakey (I should do a series on croissants... hmmm...). Drip coffee was not bad, but the espresso shots had already ruined it for me.

Then, just did some basic shopping, played Munchkins Marvel Edition with M+P. We need the expansion packs.

I had quite a bit of free time today to do whatever I want, and so I wasted about half of that time thinking about things I want to do. Then, I started reading This Changes Everything, and realized that I still haven’t finished this book even though I started it half a year ago, because it gets a bit depressing. I did learn a lot about the state of our world. Really though, what can I do as an individual consumer to try to lower that carbon footprint?

I think another reason I felt off this weekend was because of the offensive jokes at the Yuk Yuk Comedy Club by Jason Rouse this friday. To each their own, but some warning would be nice. The other acts before his were fantastic. 

This weekend was a slow one… Is this what retired life will be like? I hope not.
