I don’t feel motivated to do anything this week. Performance review is coming up, and I have goals and dreams, but really, nothing will inspire me more than Claire Marshall uploading a new video and going to yoga. Let’s just eat, OK?

PIZZERIA BARBARELLA was so amazing. H and I went during happy hour (3PM to 5PM everyday) for a quick snack before dinner. 20% off small pizzas, $4 beers, the total came to about $17. YAY. We had the salsiccia, chosen for the sausage:

Couple beers to go with it:

The server was pretty good, gave us samples of the beers before pouring full glasses, just because she KNEW we wouldn’t like the Elderflower beer that they had on special. The stout was more to my taste.

Then I got a parking ticket while parked for dinner outside Ebisu.
Then I realized how chubs I'm getting.
Then I realized it all doesn't matter anyways because I'll just hike it off! Can't wait.

OK, back to changing the world, one camera at a time.

Went to the New Po Kong for lunch with H and his folks. H’s parents are vegetarian, and they know all the good places. New Po Kong just opened, maybe 2 weeks ago, and they’ve already been here for dinner. (It's right across from the regular old Po Kong). We had a ton of dim sum dishes (no pictures because I thought it’d be too rude to keep pulling out a camera…), but couldn’t resist this (fake) shark fin dumpling:

IT’S AMAZING. The way to eat it is with red vinegar. Stuffed, but the owner brought out some tapioca custard pudding with taro:

Fat goals achieved for the day.

I haven’t worked out since Sun Run last Sunday, and a short 30 minute bike ride to get dinner with H on Wednesday… Fat goals achieved for the week.

Drove all the way out to Surrey yesterday to accompany H for picking up a web order at Tandy Leather. Surrey’s a whole new land, it just feels different once you cross into these dark lands from from Delta… But yesterday was different. Yesterday, we came across the Vaisakhi parade!

People everywhere, bright colours, fried food, keeping everybody happy. Bread pakora, real pakora, chai tea, chutney, naan… It wasn’t all South Asians, saw the Chinese and Caucasians coming out to celebrate. Traffic was horrid, but a gentleman in the area offered to let us park in front of his house (thanks dude!). Apparently, we were supposed to cover our heads as a sign of respect (a religious practice, I believe). It’s good to get out and play. Perhaps my opinion of the dark lands of Surrey is changed…

This was me by Wednesday:

Today, I’m going to nap and watch Matty Matheson cook:

Then I’ll be ready for next week.
Lucy’s Diner on a rainy day for some wholesome hearty food. Pulled pork on mac & cheese with poutine, chicken burger with onion rings, strawberry milkshake…

This was delicious, just because we were hungry and not because it was good. Onion rings and poutine were cold, definitely refried and refried again. So hard to chew. I vaguely remember it being a lot better 2 years ago, at 2AM, after a night of clubbing… Well, I had a beer at a company staff appreciation event, but was nowhere close to being drunk.

Trying to find a new pair of sunglasses for the summer… Since we were in the area, we went to 8th + Main:

No luck.Where can I find nice, cheap ones that will fit my flat Asian face?

Purchased this Chosungah 22  brow gel from Sephora in Grey Brown, many moons ago. The foam applicator tip fell off within the first 5 days, so I exchanged it for a new one… and the new one fell off again. Must be defective. Don’t get this again, but use up whatever I have left because I don’t like to waste.

It also doesn’t make a huge difference on my super thick brows. Maybe it works better for people who have thinner brows.

Above: All 3 images taken in different lighting with brow gel on. Meh. Makes it darker, I suppose, but it still doesn’t quite satisfy me.

It’s so hard to be patient and wait. 2 more years until the condo is done, and who knows what’ll happen between then and now. Sometimes, I want a monotonous life without excitement, where every single evening is the same routine. Every morning, I would put on the same white shirt and blue jeans, possibly mix it up with a cool coat:

How do I train myself to be able to wait? One of the worst feelings in the world for me is waiting for results, whether it’s waiting for somebody to show up, somebody to return, or somebody to reply. It doesn’t matter in the end, because we are all just blips in the grand scheme of things. Is that depressing? Well, cats are awesome so here’s a cat pic to fix the mood:

Got bored, went out for a drive and ended up at Choco Coo for some late night dessert. Getting fat will plump out my wrinkles.

From Left: Chocolate Cake, Hazelnut Cake, Tiramisu (in the cup), Matcha Mousse, (the tassel on my bucket bag made a cameo)

From left to right, top to bottom: Mint Dark Hot Chocolate; Tiramisu, Hazelnut Cake, Matcha Mousse

The matcha mousse had a waffle layer and was by far the best choice. Don’t bother with the Hazelnut or Chocolate Cakes, they’re not bad but also not that special. I’d come back to get the matcha mousse again if I'm in the hood, and try their other desserts, if I felt like going for a long drive again some day.

Sun Run today and I finished the 10km in 1hr8min. I blame my runners that gave me a HUGE blister for not being able to finish it in under 1 hour. Also, not enough cardio in the past few months. I think I’ll start training or at least doing more cardio.

Bonus picture: cat wants to go out.

Announcement of the Facebook VR rig using our cameras came out recently, and we're all pretty proud of this. I got my laptop dock, so I’ve switched over to it, and fiddling with it/getting used to it has wasted a bit of time. Brought work home for the past few days. I could feel myself crashing before lunch today… This week has been busy, and the answer to motivating your employees is GOOD FOOD.

Probably not enough coffee today too. NO PROBLEM! Fixed it with a batch of chocolate dipped butter cookies that our kitchen staff brought out after teriyaki chicken lunch. Here’s a few other desserts we’ve had in the past for Friday Birthday Lunch:

I love working here. There are a few things that could make it better, like not being in the middle of nowhere in Richmond. They could hire a few more people, maybe an assistant just for me to do all my expenses and data entry and screen some phone calls. Along that note, they could hire an in house Japanese chef to cook for all of us, because we ALL love Japanese food. I think I get the recognition I deserve and my opinions are listened to. The job’s not too stressful, and any job that involves working with the public will have its own quirky aspects (customer’s always right?), which I find hilariously entertaining.

Just blast my music and motivate myself to type faster – Tritonal – Blackout (Madison Mars Remix):

It’s you and me, you and me, against the world. Don’t you worry baby, there’s a fire for us. No we’re not going down in a blackout…
