...saw some brands of cereal not available in Canada, got cheap milk and Cheetos, got $10 of gas for about 87cents/liter, and drove back across the border.
So, as we were driving along the highway, I decided to take the HOV lane. We were cruising along, when there was suddenly a sign that showed "Vancouver" at the next right turn, but we were stuck in the HOV lane that led to the left! WHY WOULD THEY MAKE THE HOV LANE CUT OFF AT AN EXIT? There were no other signs indicating the direction to Vancouver ahead of that one sign at the fork in the highway either.
So, J and I decided to keep going straight and depend on our luck to take us home... We drove around Surrey, Delta, and New Westminster for 1-2 hours.
Here was our route:

I was about to turn around right before the exit onto the 99 towards the north, but luckily, J screamed at me to "Keep going straight!" right before I turned.
When I got home, my mom noticed that the lid to the gas tank was open. Apparently, I left the cap to the gas tank at the Chevron at Point Roberts. Woops. We could've died. What an adventure...
vancouver snow! :D

Fujitsu Lifebook T4310. It arrived on Thursday, and all I’ve been doing is play with it. Multitouch screen! HD videos! Windows 7!!!!
More photos…
screenshot of the touchscreen keypad.
keyboard.
fingerprint detector (right). buttons that i haven’t learned how to use(left).
came with a (tiny) microfiber cloth (right) and a pen (left) + refills.
the battery, beside a calculator and a mouse.
D’s lunch – (expensive) cheese with bitter melon stuffed with pork. lol.
A, D, J, T Night– Commercial Dr. jumping between Brado for poutine (A - “SO SMOOTH”) and Memphis Blues (T - “MEAT MEAT MEAT!!!”). We only got the ribs at Memphis Blues because they were out of the other plate. Lots of fun afterwards, like rolling around on the carpet, spilling onto the carpet, spilling onto the bed, spilling onto clothes, and throwing my camera so that there is now a hole in my wall.
S’s Birthday Dinner – Takura Bune. Servers there got slightly angry because people arrived pretty late and she wanted to give our table away. Some people are so rude.
Happy Birthday S! Enjoy the Pocky~
My arm is sore from the tetanus shot, but at least my thumb doesn’t hurt!
1. Buy a ceramic coffee mug from Starbucks, like… this one:
photo credit to woman who wrote this blog post
2. Try to get the lid off at Ladha near the microwaves/sinks, where a girl is microwaving her food.
3. Somehow make the coffee mug explode with pieces of ceramic flying everywhere.
4. Get a deep cut from the ceramic.
5. Observe muscle tissue and wonder why there is a hole in base of thumb that allows this observation.
6. Wait a few seconds for blood to come gushing out.
6. Start hyperventilating.
7. Say with great emphasis, “omfg, fucking mother fucker”.
8. Reject stranger girl’s offer of a bandaid by saying “i don’t think that will fucking help”.
9. Continue hyperventilating while rushing towards where T is sitting.
10. Get wrapped up by T in the SUS office:

11. Go to the hospital at UBC, wait an hour, peel off bandages, freak out again about the cut because it’s still gaping open, find out there’s no more glue and might need stitches, then find out i WON’T need stitches cuz they’re just going to sorta tape it up.
i’m fine. thanks for caring. :)
kyaaa~~~!!!!! YAMAPIIII~~~ LOL
this song is so soothing. the whole song is probably super edited though, ‘cause Yamapi can’t sing this well in real life… still a good song though… the single comes out on the 18th.
i realize that i like songs with piano parts in them… like Jay Chou songs, including 不能说的秘密, 珊瑚海 …etc.
Arashi had a 10 year anniversary DVD with all the best music videos (PVs) that they’ve made. NEWS had a concert DVD released. I wasted an hour or so on YouTube watching those, but i DID read some papers for PSYC365 during the boring parts. haha…
okay enough fangirling…

teletubbies at metrotown?!
hot pot at Top Gun after waiting 45 minutes to get a table (horrible service). the picture on the right was a picture of the sauces i used before… looked like a pile of shit after. it was so gross that i couldn’t take a picture of it.
we tried to go to the haunted house on Dunbar and Marine Dr., but it was closed by the time we got there :(. have to go next year for sure. brought cheap fireworks back to J’s house instead and had a fireworks fight with his neighbors!
MICB302 exam is tomorrow. The answer for everything seems to be add some antibodies with fluorochromes and fluoresce it for:
a. sorting (using FACS)
b. identifying (more FACS)
c. locating (could use microscopy… but why not just use FACS too?)
A FACS machine. (photo credits to Wikipedia)
FACS. FAX. FACKS. fuck… so screewed.
furthermore…
patterned white tights (leggings? i can’t tell the difference between tights and leggings…). i conveniently had my camera in my bag and it looked too “cool” to not take a picture of. what lovely fashion we have @ UBC.
heh.
My laptop is pretty much dead. There are small chunks of it chipped off…
…it starts up slow, couldn’t start internet explorer for about 30 minutes (until J did something…), and the lag drives me crazy!!!!!!!!!
I’ve had this since grade 12… Goodbye, Toshiba. : (
Hello, Lifebook T10T10 Notebook!
picture from Fujitsu
Going to get this over the weekend, if it’s available in stores.
thought i’d blog about a good day. this is rare. did not fall asleep in any class, but new bioc302 prof is really hard to follow and kion was randomly talking about her brother’s dog or something. lab went smoothly (unless my plates tomorrow have nothing growing on it, or there are no isolated colonies… then !(@*#%). went for bbt with A and D afterwards, and then A and i came across this in Macleod… doesn’t this guy look like someone familiar? :D
EMB plates streaked with two unknown samples. Left is V’s plate, and it should have E. coli, because of the metallic green colour. Mine… is a blob of goo on a plate, which should be E. aerogenes… hopefully it is…
Have I mentioned that I can’t Gram stain?! I looked at my slide after doing the whole tedious Gram stain procedure using a compound microscope, didn’t see anything, asked the lab instructors to look at it… and they gave up too. WHY?!!??!
For those who are taking BIOC302… (some of the) Problem Set 2 Answers! see full album below. credits to V for taking the pictures.
